EXP 3 #5 Sketch-up Models

EXP 3 #4 Flythrough

EXP 3 #3 Lumion Captures

Walking along the bridge between the buildings, acts as a meeting place to discuss ideas. The single mid-span incline arch was inspired by Santiago Calatrava, and provides bending moment supports to the deflected walkway.

Library looks out into the sunset. Tessellated triangular extruded windows allow natural intrusion of light.

The view looking outside research/meeting space for academic space.

Students and staff can enjoy walking out into the structure to feel the fluid rhythm and sunset. Spanning support arches can be seen with light maps incorporated into the texture.

Moving from the ground to the first floor of the first section of the building, the stairs were modeled to the concept and curvilinear form.

The tessellated texture gives the space a sense of connection through differential symmetry of the interior complementing the scale of the openness.

From the computer lab, the natural surroundings intrude to a place of technology and artificiality. Furthered by natural light and the flow of the space.

Architectural Folly 1 - THE HIPPODROME

After study spend time in the workshop, the Dean would generally invite them to present their work here, or hold a forum for a meeting. The Hippodrome drops into the valley when due date time arrives so late comers cannot enter or students cannot escape. The texture also invokes the curvilinear idea that resonates in the surrounding structure.

Architectural Folly 2 - THE AMPHITHEATER

General meeting space, the Amphitheater acts as a forum space and lecture can be held here as the folly drops into the valley and gives fantastic view of the surrounding valley. (or something more interesting an architectural theory...jksjks)

Support arches spans the ends of the structure and provide structural stability at the ends. The building itself is comprised of titanium, gilded with texture as it is light weight and easy to construct. Fluid forms which extrude to their extremities take advantage of thin titanium sheets which buckle. This in effect provides lateral and shear stability in the overall structure.

Titanium metal and textures reflect beautifully in the sunlight. Since lumion does not show natural reflective properties of various metals, the glossiness and reflection was done artificially. The curvilinear section of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao inspired the shape and form, and expressed a sense of interconnection between staff and students. The exterior materiality was also inspired by works of Frank Gehry, especially the use of titanium sheets and structural elements which are resistant to bending moments.

"Dude, we're gonna be late for Prof. Kember"
"Don't worry, she won't show up for another 15 minutes"

Tessellated triangular cuts and open space grant the sense of natural intrusion of nature into the fluid space.

Light maps were added to the spanning arches to give a vivid display of fluid light flow.

EXP 3 #1 Concept 1

Fluid Connection

Fluid architecture instills visually striking and unique shapes and forms that render beautifully through their composition. Spanning across a valley located on the border of India-controlled Kashmir to Pakistan, the fluidity of the expression expresses a sense of connection between the warring countries and the lack of ridged lines further envelopes the smooth flowing transition into contentedness.

ARCHITECTURAL FOLLY

An ampitheatre which drops into the valley and recluses into the valley to "escape" and flow into the world.
